Get ready for the Sumner Hill Reality Fair!

Don't we all wish our kids could have a dose of "reality" every now and then?  Well that is just what will happen at the SHJHS Reality Fair scheduled Feb 3rd - 5th from 8:30 - 3:45 each day.

The Reality Fair is a math-oriented program for all 9th grade students  where students are assigned an income bracket (based on their current grades).  They then take their monthly earnings and advance through a centers where they choose their housing, car, insurance, etc. Throughout this activity they will also be balancing a checkbook. The objective of this activity is to have them think about their future and how their choices now will directly affect the choices they get to make as adults.  At the end of the activity, if they have money left in their account...they receive a Payday Candy Bar.  But...if they have no money left...they will receive a Zero Candy Bar.

So, I know you are asking how can you help your teenager learn a lesson in reality?

1.  Volunteer your Time:

Two centers need parent help
1 parent will assist at the Health Insurance Table

3 parents will assist at the checkout table, monitoring student check-book writing.

So we will need 4 parents at a time. Shifts are 8:30-12 and 12-3:45

2.  Donate candy and/or money:

Money toward water bottles and lunches for our business and parent volunteers
Full-size Payday and Zero candybars (We need about 325 Paydays and 75 Zeros - See the images found from Walmart.com below)

All volunteer time slots and items are needed by January 23rd! So please hurry and respond with what shifts you can work and what items you can send.

Thank you in advance for doing your part!

Please respond to either of your chair- women for this event via email or text:
