Clinton Attaché wins Xtravaganza show choir competition in California
Clinton High School’s Attaché show choir was named Grand Champion at the Xtravaganza show choir competition held March 17-19 in Los Alamitos, California.
Attaché also won top awards for best costumes, best musicianship, and best showmanship. Senior Casey Collier was recognized as the top female performer.
“I am so excited and honored to receive this award,” said Collier. “It’s a great way to end the season.”
Xtravaganza is one of the largest show choir competitions in the United States. This year’s competition featured 54 middle and high school groups who competed in front of a panel of five judges.
Four of the five judges scored Attaché in first place in music and visual performance with 1078 points. The other top four show choirs placing in the competition were Burroughs Powerhouse of Calif. with 996.5 points, first runner up; Mt. Zion Swingsations of Illinois with 996 points, second runner up; Twinsburg Great Expectations of Ohio with 958 points, third runner up; and Bonita Vista The Music Machine of Calif. with 887 points, fourth runner up.

“I could not be more proud of a group of students,” said Attaché director David Fehr. “They have become a true team.”

Clinton Attaché is composed of 45 singer/dancers, 18 instrumentalists, and 14 crew members. The award-winning show choir is led by directors David and Mary Fehr, pit director Robert Allen, and crew director Deborah Morgan. Choreographers include April James, Stephen Todd, Dexter Bishop, and Kellis McSparrin Oldenburg.

Attaché will host choirs from all over the country during Show Choir Nationals March 31-April 2. The competition has been hosted by America’s premier show choir at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee for 15 years.

The show choir’s annual Spring Revue is at 7:30 p.m. May 4-7 at Clinton High School (401 Arrow Drive). Tickets are $9 and $10; call 601-924-0707 to reserve tickets. For more information, visit

2016-2017 Class Choices Guide
Students will begin watching the following informational videos regarding class choices for the 2016-2017 school year during homeroom this week:
Go Arrows!
The first competition for the Clinton Indoor Percussion Ensemble and the Clinton Winter Guard definitely set the bar high for the remainder of their seasons. Clinton Percussion, under the direction of assistant band director Steven Ross, is one of only two groups in the state that is allowed to compete in "World Class" competition. Being the only one of those groups at this show, they scored a 78.3, which is a VERY high number for the first competition of the season. This is also the highest world class score in the Mississippi Indoor Association, thus far.
The Clinton Winterguard under the direction of assistant band director Robyn Lawson, had a pretty emotional night, winning their classification and subsequently being promoted to the next higher classification! This is the only winterguard in the state that has been promoted to a classification higher than what they started. The winterguard swept all captions of equipment analysis, movement analysis, design analysis, and general effect.
